Lowther Extended School Services

What does extended schools mean?
The extended schools core agenda is to offer services such as 'wrap around' childcare, increased activities for children and young people outside of the school day, improved access to a range of services for parents and carers and improved access to facilities for communities.
Lowther Primary School has been granted full extended school status from the DFES.
Pauline Crawford is the part time Extended Schools Co-ordinator for the Lowther School and Castelnau Community. She is based at Lowther Primary School and can be contacted on the school number or by mobile phone 07958 690749. She works with other local partners to deliver the core offer within the community.
Extended school services currently include the breakfast and after school club, holiday play provision, children’s after school activities such as circus skills and kickboxing and the Get Active programme of fitness classes for adults, Family Learning Workshops and Parenting Support courses.

Chefs Sarah and Tania bounce out of bed every morning to run the breakfast club during term time. Breakfast is served allowing children a healthy choice of cereals and fruit and once a week, a special cooked breakfast which they may help to prepare. There is a range of appropriate indoor and outdoor activities to ease them gently into the day.

Alice, Pat and Nicola lead the fun and games after school and engage the children in a full range of activities: board games, books, construction toys, arts and crafts, as well as access to outdoor space for sport and free play and a quieter chill out space and home corner. Themed activities and special events are planned in throughout the year. Healthy snacks and drinks are provided for the children.
There is a daily walking bus service for St Osmond’s children coming to club.

Holiday Club » £18.00 extended day 8 - 6pm (includes tea) £14 core day 9 - 4 £9 half day 9 -12 or 1 - 4
The clubs currently run during Easter and Summer school holidays. Activities focus on fun and give children the opportunity of participating in a varied programme of structured activity with plenty of time for free play. Examples include sports, drama, art, and cookery.
The clubs are for all primary school children including children with special needs.

How to book clubs
A registration and consent form for each child must be completed for all children that attend the after school and holiday clubs. These forms can be downloaded here or collected from the school office.

Breakfast club
You do not need to book a place for the breakfast club . All children under 8 years old must be accompanied to school by an adult.

After School club
The after school club may be booked in advance each half term to ensure your child has a place.
Bookings must be made in a minimum of a week in advance to attract the discounted price of £7.50 per full session. Booking forms are available online to download here and should be completed and taken into the school office to book and confirm your place.
If your child attends a regular after school activity at Lowther school but would like to come to the after school club afterwards, please write on your booking form the activity club they are attending so that they can be collected.
Last minute bookings can be made but a registration/consent form must have been completed for your child and the rate is £10 per session. A registration\consent form can be downloaded and\or printed here.
